Welcome to Laverock How - Shepherds Hut & Hot Tub

Laverock How offers an unforgettable escape. Our shepherds hut, complete with a private wood fired hot tub, provides the perfect sanctuary to unwind and reconnect with nature. From your doorstep, enjoying the breathtaking panoramic views stretching across the fells, out to the sea, and even catching a glimpse of the distant Isle of Man.

We are on a small holding, with sheep in the surrounding fields, we have alpacas, donkeys, goats and hens, providing fresh eggs for your welcome pack. There is a horse arena with floodlights available for use, if you want an area your dog can run about in. We have  bridle paths from the property up onto the fells.

Due to our rural location internet & phone coverage is patchy.

The Hut

The hut comes equipped with microwave, kettle, toaster, two ring electric hob and small selection of cooking essentials. Ensuite is also in the hut,  with shower, toilet and basin. Bedding, toiletries and towels included in rental stay, as well as initial wood for the private hot tub. A few games, walking guides, a map and head torch is provided in your stay. Welcome pack is provided; an assortment of teas, coffee, hot chocolate, relish, bread, eggs from our rescue hens, popcorn and milk.

Whilst the Shepards hut only provides a king size bed, we are happy for people to bring extra tents at £20 per tent for the duration of the stay, this must be completed at booking. Maximum 2 tents. Maximum 4 people. Maximum 2 dogs. Dogs stay for free.

Please note we only offer a minimum 2 night stay!

Local Area

There is a huge amount of walking to be done from the hut, Ennerdale fells can be reached by foot, even though it is a good walk. Further afield is Wastwater, Scafell and gable, about 6 miles from the hut by car. The lovely market towns of Cockermouth is 20 miles away and Keswick is 25 miles away.
The beaches of St Bees, Seascale, Silecroft and Braystones are perfect for dog walking (and horse riding).

If you love horses and have always fancied riding a heavy horse, Cumbrian heavy horses are the worlds only BHS approved heavy horse riding centre riding on fells, fields and beaches. The town of Egremont, 6 miles from the hut, hosts a farmers market every month.

The hut comes with private free storage for bikes, paddle boards, canoes and any other large items.

There are plenty of great places to eat near us:
